IHC serves notices on Chief Commissioner , others for non-implementation of Senior Citizens Act 2021

Senior advocate Major Bashir moved IHC on the subject

Islamabad : Renowned lawyer and Pakistan’s attorney at law for human rights , Majid Bashir advocate , has moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against non-implementation of Senior Citizens Act 2021 in the capital territory of Islamabad.

Major Bashir advocate in his petition filed with IHC pleaded that the government had passed Senior Citizens Act 2021 , which granted a number of facilities to the citizens of Islamabad who attain 60- year and above age . In the petition ,

Major Bashir Advocate informed the court that under Senior Citizens Act 2021 , all citizens of Islamabad who are 60 years old and above were to get concessions in medicines prices , free parks entries and concession in travelling in the area of federal capital.

Under the Senior Citizens Act 2021, a 12- member council was to be established also, the petitioner added. However , non-implementation of Senior Citizens Act 2021 deprived senior residents of Islamabad of those all facilities , for which they were entitled under Senior Citizens Act 2021..

IHC chief justice, Amir Farooq , has admitted the petition of Majid Bashir advocate and issued notices to all concerned , seeking reply on the matter from the Commissioner Islamabad ,ministry of Economic Affairs Division and ministry of Human Rights and directed their authorities to give reasons of non-implementation of Senior Citizens Act 2021.
