ISLAMABAD: The Health ministry bosses managed to dodge the federal cabinet which met here on Tuesday with prime minister, Imran Khan, in the chair, to secure yet another look- after charge for three months of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) chief executive officer (CEO) for Asim Rauf. The ministry is continuously misleading to the federal cabinet by recommending Asim Rauf’s name for the post of CEO although he was found involved in cheating and perjury for his promotion in the past.
The federal cabinet instead appointing a permanent CEO DRAP again granted approval to give look after charge to Asim Rauf. His repeated appointments as DRAP CEO by the federal cabinet show how much powerful mafia was supporting him to keep enjoying top position of DRAP despite lacking moral authority for the post.
According to an official inquiry report , a copy of which was made available to NEWSMAN , Asim Rauf, current look after Chief Executive Officer (CEO) DRAP , got promotion in 2015 through forged documents..
The inquiry against Asim Rauf was conducted by a high level committee of the Health ministry .
Sources said instead submittimg inquiry report to the prime minister for his action in the case, the Health ministry hushed it-up . The inquiry report wherein Asim Rauf was found guilty of perjury to get promotion in 2015 never came into the notice of the prime minister..
Since 2015 , Asim Rauf is not only enjoying top positions in DRAP, but also providing undue favour to pharma mafia to get unparalell increase in medicines prices.
Interestingly, after founding guilty of perjury by the inquiry committee, Asim Rauf has been granted a number of extensions as look after CEO DRAP by the federal cabinet . His powerful links in the power corridors are continously misleading the prime minister and his cabinet on the issue of Asim Rauf.
During Asim Rauf’s look after charge of DRAP CEO, the powerful drug mafia has managed to get repeated increases in the prices of lifesaving drugs. This mafia is so daring its not caring for public criticism over unparalell increase in medicine prices.
