Financial assistance starts pouring in into Pakistan for floods affectees

ISLAMABAD : August 27,2022. As Pakistan struggles to cope with devastating floods across the country, the world community has started to respond positively to Islamabad’s call for help to provide its affectees much -needed relief.

Pakistan’s 70 % areas have submerged in devastating floods , causing it huge loss in terms of loss of lives and properties .

The floods washed away hundreds of thousands homes, killing over 1000 people and wiping off 3 million livestocks. The floods have caused huge loss to Pakistan’s infrasteucture also. Its hundreds of bridges have washed away . A huge road and railways network have been completely damaged. Though the PDMA , a disaster management body, has released initial figures of loss in terms of human lives and properties which suggested damage partial or complete to one millions houses killing of 1050 people , Washing out of crops valuing billions of dollars , but the real numbers would be collected once Pakistan wails through the worst ever floods of its 75- year history .

Although the army and other administrative departments are making their best efforts to reach out to the affectees in Balochistan, Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK), Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan, which are worse hit by the floods, but still millions of affectees are waiting to get food and other relief to survive.

Millions are forced to brave downpours in affected parts of Pakistan in open without any shelter, food and other supplies .

Pakistan needs huge funds to resettle affectees of the floods who are in millions and in the next phase , it will require billions of dollars to rebuild its infrastructure like roads, bridges , dams and houses for affectees.

Pakistan has made a call through United Nations (UN) to help it overcome devastations caused by the recent deadly floods .

Prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif , is busy in contacting the world leaders and presenting them an initial assessment of loss inflicted by the floods to Pakistan.

Although , United Kingdom and Azerbaijan ,have announced financial support for helping Pakistan to feed to the floods affectees and restart settlement of the affectees once the floods water recedes and many other counties like United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Iran have promised to provide Pakistan required financial help to re-start rehabilitation work in the flood affected areas, but its high time for the world community to stand with Pakistan and extend it all possible financial help to mitigate sufferings of the flood affectees and start reconstruction work to rebuild its damaged infrastructure .
