ISLAMABAD: The federal government has strongly condemned the Sindh government for putting in place semi lockdown in the province to tackle rising COVID-19 cases and told it to avoid taking decisions on the issue in isolation.
Sindh had imposed partial lockdown in the province on July 29, 2021 for 10 days to counter surging COVID-19 cases in the province.
The decision has purturbed the Centre which had clearly conveyed to all the provinces just a few days ago to put in place a smart lockdown policy to stop upward trend in positive corona cases.
Sindh is facing a complex situation as its infection rate has gone up to alarming level of over 26 percent.
Keeping in view quick surge in the positive cases, it introduced tough measurs last week. These measures included closing down of many businesses and industrial activities in the province.
The federal government strongly believes that Sindh government was overdoing and its harsh measures could prove counter productive rather than delivering something good.
The Sindh government has its own arguments to go ahead with its plan to control corona cases with harsh measures.
Asad Omar, National Command and Operation Centre ( NCOC) chief coordinator on Saturday said Sindh’s new restrictions will have negative impact by all means. He recommended the Sindh government to take into consideration India’s case prior to go ahead with harsh lockdown.

Talking to media, Bilawal Bhutto in Karachi on Saturday questìoned ” Who will be responsible if Pakistan, God forbid, enter into India like situation where corona caused huge human loss?”.
