.LAHORE : July 22, 2022. The ruling of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) ,which resulted in disqualification of 20 members of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) for floor crossing on Friday blocked Chaudhary Pervez Elahi , a joint candidate of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid- e Azam (PMLQ ) and PTI, to win the election of chief minister of Punjab.
PTI of Imran Khan and PMLQ, particularly , Chaudhary Pervez Elahi and his son , Chaudhary Moonis Elahi, were jubilant as they apparently enjoyed majority started to pose as potential winner of Friday’s battle for Punjab throne by mid of tense day and senior officers of the Punjab government had sought transfer from the province when Shahbaz Gil , chief security officer (CSO) of Imran Khan , had started to hurl serious threats of penalising Inspector General of Police Punjab (IGP) and Chief Secretary Punjab , for what this special type of PTI leader called going against the PTI in by-poll held on July 17, 2022 in 20 constituencies of Punjab assembly .
Shahbaz Gil had violated the law on the day of by- elections in Punjab and was arrested in Mazafargarh . He recalled that event on Friday while talking to the media in Lahore on Friday and declared to take all such identified officers to task.
‘We will not spare any officer who in our views showed partisan behaviour during the by-polls in Punjab”, upbeat Shahbaz Gil announced at around 2 PM,
Meanwhile , PTI and PMLQ leadership shifted their members in the assembly building in luxurious buses . The PTI and PMLQ claimed of having 186:members , a golden number required to win Friday’s do or die game . Everything was visually going fine for PTI and Chaudhary Pervez Elahi by 4 PM . This was the time to start session of the assembly and start process for the election of chief minister of the province. But the session started to delay which made atmosphere in and outside the Punjab assembly
PTI start to issue statement that it may move SCP for delay in start of the session .
At around Geo News broke a story that was not less than a bombshell for PTI and PMLQ leaders. Hamid Mir who was reporting the story told Geo News that. PMLQ chief , Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain , has written a letter to the deputy speaker , Dost Mazari , not to count votes of his party if its members gave votes to Chaudhary Pervez Elahi .
Chaudhary Moonis Elahi, who happened to divide PMLQ to show his loyality to Imran Khan, rushed out from the gallery of Punjab assembly to reach out to Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain to deny the content of his letter but he failed to convince him . His effort to appease Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain who was publicaly humiliated not by any one other but his own real young brother , Chaudhary Wajahat Hussain, proved too late and too short .
The new development was enough to throw Chaudhary Pervez Elahi and other PMLQ members not only out of race for chief minister Punjab but also from the politics at least for now
Although , PTI members showed firm commitment and gave 100 % votes in Punjab assembly to Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to take his total cast voted to golden number of 186, but he lost the game when deputy speaker, Dost Mohammad Mazari , quoted the SCP’s the ruling and declined to count 10 votes of PMLQ.
Chaudhary Pervez Elahi and his son , Chaudhary Moonis Elahi lost the game of politics, besides proving a common saying that Chaudharys of Gujrat were united in any case and situation wrong
Chaudhary Wajahat Hussain who was known among political circles of Pakistan being younger brother of Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain put last mail in politics of his family by leveling accusations against Chaudhary Salik Hussain , son of Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain. , of taking dollars from Zardari
Since after discarding of 10 votes of Pervez Elahi , deputy speaker declared Hamza Shahbaz , winner of the contest of chief minister Punjab as he had got 179 votes .
In his tweet , PPP chairman , Bilawal Bhutto , reminded the opponents a famous phrase ” Aik Zardari Sub pay Bhari'”.
