ISLAMABAD : Dec 2,2022:. The government has appointed Dr Asad Majeed as Pakistan’s Foreign secretary .
A formal notification to this effect has been issued here on Friday.
Dr Asad Majeed is currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Belgium .
Dr Asad Majeed was Pakistan ‘s ambassador to US when a severe controversy had erupted between Pakistan and th US over cipher issue.
Dr Asad Majeed was also summoned by a cabinet committee formed by Shahbaz government . He had appeared before the committee to record his statement over cipher issue.
Former prime minister , Imran Khan, had created a months long controversy on the basis of the cipher that Dr Asad Majeed had sent to the Foreign Office as Pakistan’s ambassador to US .
The cipher controversy had brought Pak- US relations to the knees .
After months long public anti US rant, Imran Khan , had told a UK based newspaper recently thet he has left the cipher issue behind and want to have good relations with the US.
