Court extends physical remand of accused in Sara Inam murder case

ISLAMABAD: September 26, 2022: An Islamabad district and session court on Monday extended physical remand of Shahnawaz, killer of wife, Sara Inam, and his father Pakistani journalist ,Ayaz Amir, for three days and one day respectively.

The accused Shahnawaz, who had killed his wife Sara Inam on Friday morning, and his father, Ayaz Amir, were present in the court during Monday’s hearing.

The accused were present before the court on expiry of two days physical remand.
During Monday’s hearing, investigation officer (IO) informed the court that they need more physical remand to recover passport and banks details of the accused.

The judge Amir Aziz asked the IO about Ayaz Amir’s connection in the murder case. The IO informed the court that Ayaz Amir’s name in murder case has been added on the complaint of the uncle and aunt of the deceased.
The judge also inquired about where about of the deceased parents to which the IO said the parents of the deceased were in Canada and reaching Islamabad on Tuesday (Tomorrow)(.

Ayaz Amir pleaded his case himself before the court and said he was in Chakwal when his wife Samina Shah informed him about the incident. He asked his wife not to let Shahnawaz leave the house and then immediately called up to the inspector general of the police to take Shahnawaz in custody . He added that after inspector general police he called to the senior superintendent police (SSP) Islamanad and gave him address of the house where incident took place. He denied any involvement in murder of Sara Inam.

After hearing of the arguments of the parties, the court extended physical remand of the main accused Shahnawaz for three days and his father ,Ayaz Amir, for one day.

In a separate case, the court granted interim bail to Samina Shah, mother of the main accused .

In her petition, the mother of the killer had pleaded that Shahnawaz told her about the incident at 9.15 by phone and she immediately rushed to the room where Sara and accused Shahnawaz were living ,but by time Sara Inam had died . Samina Shah claimed that she asked the killer to sit aside in the house and informed about Ayaz Amir who was out of the city.

Mrs Shah said she has come to know through the press that the police has issued orders for her arrest in the case. She denied any role in murder of her daughter in law and pleaded for interim bail .

The court granted her interim bail for three days against a surety of Rs 50, 000.
