ISLAMABAD: Denmark’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jacob Linulf, met with Federal Minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam, to discuss a range of key issues, with a particular focus on the welfare of Afghan refugees and opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by the UNHCR Representative in Pakistan, Philippa Candler, along with Secretary of Safron Zafar Hassan and Joint Secretary Agha Wasim Ahmed.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening high-level diplomatic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration. They discussed potential joint initiatives in areas such as education, healthcare, and professional training for Afghan refugees.

Engineer Amir Muqam acknowledged Denmark’s ongoing support in addressing the Afghan refugee crisis and highlighted the shared responsibility between Pakistan and Denmark in managing the challenges. He also noted the significant financial burden Pakistan faces in hosting millions of Afghan refugees.
Ambassador Linulf praised Pakistan’s efforts in providing shelter to Afghan refugees and commended the extension of Proof of Registration (POR) cards for Afghan refugees, a move that ensures continued support for those in need.

He further recognized Pakistan’s humanitarian role, noting the country’s exemplary efforts in managing the refugee situation despite waning international attention.
Both parties expressed optimism that their continued cooperation would help improve conditions for Afghan refugees and lead to sustainable solutions for the ongoing crisis.
