The attached screenshot depicts a proposed resolution to be presented in the Senate by Senatorr from Balouchistan, opposing the National Assembly’s decision to name the Gwadar International Airport after Firoz Khan Noon. This unfortunate situation highlights the existing political polarization.
One cannot help but wonder when elected Senators are chosen by the very members of the house that passed the resolution in the National Assembly. The intention behind such resolutions is to ensure that the names and contributions of the country’s founding fathers are remembered and continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation selflessly, rather than succumbing to corrupt practices like horse trading, which unfortunately prevail in the Senate.
Throughout the world, important institutions and installations bear names that honor notable figures and heroes. Pakistan itself has examples, such as Karachi Airport named after Jinnah and Lahore after Iqbal. Therefore, it seems fitting to name Gwadar after Firoz Khan, the individual responsible for making it a part of today’s Balouchistan. The objections raised by certain politicians seem unnecessary and without merit.
Instead of naming the airport solely after Firoz Khan Noon , I humbly suggest a resolution in the Baluchistan Provincial Assembly to reach a consensus on one personality from Balouchistan who deserves the honor for their significant contributions to the region and there would be none except those who served their own interests and clans . It is time for Pakistanis to unite and pay tribute to our founding fathers, acknowledging their selfless service to the nation. We should transcend divisive politics based on ethnicity and regionalism.
As for Malik Riaz, if he so desires, he could pursue a resolution in the Senate proposing the airport to be named after him, instead of Malik Feroz Khan Noon and one can blindly he will be the winner.
Pakistan’s current state of politics, sadly labeled as the “World’s No. 1 Horse Trading Market,” undermines the democratic ideals the nation was built upon. Instead of honoring the highest contributors, the system seems to favor the highest bidders. Honorable Firoz Khan Noon, who has long passed away, no longer poses any political threat. His victory in securing Gwadar for Pakistan remains a point of pride, yet it seems many seek to claim ownership without a genuine commitment to serve.
May God guide Pakistan towards a more principled and transparent political landscape, where the nation’s interests prevail over personal gain and where the true legacies of our founding fathers are celebrated and preserved.🇵🇰
