Islamabad : Dec 26 : Thousands of candidates are in the race for general elections 2024 including Pakistan ‘s top political leadership including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo , Main Nawaz Sharif , Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan , Pakistan People Party (PPP) supreme leader , Asif Ali Zardari , PPP chairman , Balawal Bhutto , PMLN president , Shahbaz Sharif , Jamiat e Ulama Islam (JUI-F) , Maulana Fazalur Rehman, PTI chairman , Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Awami National Party (ANP) chief , Aimal Wali Khan , Istehkam Party Pakistan (IPP) chief , Jahangir Tareen , PTI-P chairman , Pervez Khattak , Dr Khalid Maqbool of Muthida Qaumi Movement ( MQM) Pakistan, Akhtar Mengal of Balochistan National Party , Liaqat Baloch of Jamaat e Islami , Yousaf Raza Gillani of PPP. Shah Mahmood Qureshi of PTI. Chaudhary Pervez Elahi of PTI.
The nomination papers of these national political leaders have been submitted with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The security of the submitted nomination papers of the candidates who are contesting the general elections ,2024 are under scrutiny now . The process of submitted papers’ scrutiny will complete by December 30. The final revised list of the candidates who will stand illegible to contest the general elections will be made public by ECP on January 11.
The scrutiny of submitted nomination papers is a second phase in Pakistan ‘s general elections . Then on completion of the scrutiny of nomination papers and issuance of final list of illegible candidates third phase of general elections in Pakistan will begin .
In third phase, the candidates will hold public campaign to woo their voters and persuade them to vote in their favour. The election campaign comes to end 24 hours ahead of final voting day. Since voting in Pakistan for the general elections is scheduled for February 8, 2024 , the candidates will be allowed to campaign for votes till midnight of Dec 6, 2024. All major political parties are making their best efforts to convince the voters to vote for their candidates in the general elections .
PTI is the only party in Pakistan. Whose candidates are complaining of snatching of the nomination papers during filing process. Although the courts are giving relief to some of PTI candidates who are aggrieved in this regards, but majority of such candidates are still struggling for relief.
