Elon Musk Contributes $44 Million to Trump’s Super PAC Efforts

Washington: Federal reports showed that Elon Musk has stepped up his efforts, spending over $44 million in a pro-Donald Trump spending group to achieve the intended result of the November 5 election.

Additionally, Musk donated approximately $75 million in just three months, from July to September, according to a disclosure that Musk’s America PAC group made to the Federal Election Commission.

In the first half of October, America PAC, which aims to increase voter turnout in states that could determine the outcome of the election, revealed spending more than $47 million.

Since the Trump campaign heavily depends on outside organizations to canvass voters, Musk, the richest man in the world, formed a super PAC that will likely play a significant role in the election between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, which is predicted to be extremely close.

According to a different filing to the Federal Election Commission, Trump’s team claimed to have spent over $88 million on advertisements in the first half of the month, leaving him with $36 million to spend on the remaining portion of his campaign. During that time, Trump’s campaign raised $16 million.

Early in October, the Harris campaign, which has recently outspent and outraised Trump’s campaign, said it has spent over $130 million on advertisements. According to its statement, Harris’ campaign had $119 million in the bank on October 16 after raising $97 million in the first half of the month.

Another conservative super PAC, the Sentinel Action Fund, reported receiving $2.3 million from Musk.

With his contributions to America PAC, Musk joins a select group of Republican mega-donors, which also includes casino tycoon Miriam Adelson and banking heir Timothy Mellon.

America PAC, which is only available to registered voters in battleground areas, has been offering $1 million every day to a randomly chosen signature of its online petition as part of its strategy to boost support for Trump.

CNN said Wednesday that the Justice Department warned America PAC in a letter that the freebies might be illegal under federal law.

There is disagreement among legal experts on whether Musk would be violating the ban on paying individuals to register to vote, as the petition falls into a murky area of election law.

Requests for comment regarding the letter have not received a response from America PAC.
