ISLAMABAD: In an online meeting of the macro advisory committee, headed by Finance minister Shaukat Tarin, weighed in various proposals for relief to the public from biting price hike here on Thursday .
The committee was given various proposals for relief to the masses from surging inflation and subsequent sky- rocketing price hike in the country. The committee considered a proposal of enhancing slab of taxable amount from Rs 0.6 million to Rs 0.9 million to give some relief to salaried class of the people. The committee was also proposed that the government should provide subsidy on petrol to motorbike users to minimize financial burden on low income group of the society. The committee also considered a proposal to initiate job providing programme with.the support of the private sector to provide employment to unemployed youth. Another proposal of launching of small loan programme for helping educated and technical youth to start their own small businesses also came under discussion in the meeting.
“Today’s meeting was basically a brain storming session to workout different proposals and then formulate in next meeting to provide immediate relief to the low income group which has been hit hard due to rising inflation and price hike in the country”, sources privy to the outcome of Thursday’s meeting told NEWSMAN.
The committee was presented a report on national economic growth which was highly appreciated by the participants.
The committee also noted with satisfaction that Pakistan’s economy was heading towards right direction to bring durable progress in the country.
prime minister, Imran Khan, is conceding publically that low income and salaried class of the society was under financial pressure due to rising inflation and subsequent price hike. He has been regularly promising to give relief to the affected section of the society and Thursday’s meeting of the macro advisory committee was in the same context.
