The Kashmir violence, which claimed three lives, is just the tip of the iceberg, reminiscent of the iceberg spotted before it sank the gigantic Titanic ship. The IMF is destined to lead Pakistan in the same direction, where, as a strategy, it disburses loans against the people’s wishes to the corrupt and then compels these corrupt individuals to recover it by any means necessary.
Having lost millions of lives and land due to our own dishonesty, by hoodwinking our own people and tricking them with the promise of an Islamic welfare state that ultimately drains their blood through unbearable indirect taxation, making survival difficult for them.
Kashmir is the first in line, where common people took the initiative to confront the oppressive state, which resorted to killing them instead of meeting their just demands for rationalizing wheat flour and electricity prices. These demands are now being belatedly revised downwards. The former state of Swat is next in line, where anti-government sentiments are simmering, as life for a common citizen to survive with dignity has become next to impossible.
As the IMF mission arrives soon for the so-called bailout package, promising economic stability at the cost of more taxation and resultant inflation, it actually brings economic destruction by enriching the few and impoverishing and economically uprooting millions. Before the IMF mission brings about the absolute economic destruction of Pakistan, it is high time the loan is refused, and the country enters the much-needed default, similar to Sri Lanka, to recalibrate both its macro and microeconomic dynamics for self-sustainability, rather than dependence on foreign loans that have led to nothing but pushing its citizens into uprisings to survive , as seen in Kashmir.
