ISLAMABAD : The govt on Friday held Imran government responsible of current economic mess and alleged that Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf (PTI) scrapped a sovereign agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to cap the prices of petroleum products and power rates adding an unbearable load of Rs 700 billion in subsidy on the national economy.
Masadiq Malik , minister for Energy, who was flanked by former prime minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi,
Mr Musadiq claimed that former prime minister , Imran Khan , intentionally destroyed Pakistan’s economy by taking ill-conceived decisions that could push Pakistan to a default on global liabilities and capping of petroleum product prices in February last till June 30, 2022 was actually a part of his same plan . He accused the ousted prime minister of conspiring against Pakistan for petty politics . He said ‘ Imran Khan is publicaly uttering assertions like breakup of the country and weakening of the armed forces to push forward his anti Pakistan agenda. He said ” After his dangerous assertions , can someone justify mental health of Imran Khan after losing his rule”.
Masadiq Malik said the increase in petroleum product prices has become inevitable to avoid more loss to the national economy .
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the PTI government took wrong decisions to intentionally damage the economy of Pakistan . He said the coalition government will take corrective decisions to put the country on the right track. He noted that PMLN unfortunately faces unpopular decisions whenever it comes in power .
Former ministers of PTI government, Shaukat Tareen and Hammad Azhar , also held a press conference to criticise the increase in petroleum products . Hammad Azhar and Shaukat Tareen claimed that their government had a plan to finance subsidy on petroleum products without the support of IMF.
They said PTI government had directed Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia to contact the concerned authorities to buy cheap petrol. Hamad Azhar claimed that the coalition government will go home soon .
