ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday issued a handout which may work to stop snatching of mobile phone sets in major cities like Karachi.
Mobile snatching is a great curse in Karachi for years. The snatchers hit across this largest city of Pakistan at will. They have made it a permanent feature of their activities and law enforcing agencies (LEAs) have failed to check mobile phones snatching. This menace is also on the rise in other cities, but its percentage in Karachi
This activity has become so dangerous and threatening that the people do not use pricious mobile phones in Karachi.
A racket does trading of snatched mobile phones in different parts of the city. The police is a party to this dirty business. They get their share from illegal trading of snatched phones so they do not check this criminal activity.
Now PTA seems serious to check mobile snatching as it develops a mechanism to track lost or snatched mobile sets and help police recover them. One can hope PTA’s step will result in stopping mobile phones snatching.
