Islamabad : May 29 ,2024 :Malik Riaz , Pakistan ‘s once untouchable property tycoon is in the dock as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has expanded investigations into Bahria Town’s grabbing of state owned lands in major cities and money laundering case. Sources told NEWSMAN that Malik Riaz , owner of Bahria Town , is involved in massive money laundering and NAB is investigating these charges against him. Malik Riaz and Ali Riaz -father had son duo is not only involved in money laundering , but also in facilitation to many other money launderers. “We are investigating Malik Riaz and his son’s involvement in money laundering”, an official privy to Bahria Town land fraud case said in a background interview with this scribe.
A day earlier , In a rare case NAB joint investigation teams raided at Bahria Town offices in Rawalpindi /Islamabad on Tuesday. According to the media reports , NAB teams raided Bahria Town offices in Bahria Town phase- II in Islamabad as well Bahria Enclave offices to search out evidence of a link between Bahria Town and Abdul Qadir University . NAB is investigating € 190 million fraud case involving Bahria Town owner , Malik Riaz , and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Imran Khan is in jail since August last year for multiple corruption and vandalism cases. The case of Al-Qadir University land is a serious case against Imran Khan . As prime minister Imran Khan decided to adjust € 190 million against outstanding of Bahria Town Karachi . NAB had filed a case of financial fraud against Imran Khan for allegedly diverting € 190 million to adjust against outstanding amount of Bahria Town Karachi. Malik Riaz’s Bahria Town is believed to be a classical case of land fraud in Pakistan. Malik Riaz grabbed state land to sell it to the buyers illegally and caused loss of trillions of rupee to Pakistan, but he remained untouchable for decades . Pakistan’s top offices ,instead checking his frauds in land procurements and development of Bahria Town in many big cities of Pakistan , became its facilitators . Selling of over 55000 acres of land of Sindh to Bahria Town by PPP govt is Pakistan’s largest land scam ,but none of the authorities concerned dared to question systematic land grabbing of Bahria Town. Malik Riaz is considered as a king of buying of everyone who he fears could stop or point out his stylish model of land grabbing. He kept buying decision makers in PPP and PMLN rules to keep expanding his Bahria Town empire . Imran Khan whom many in Pakistan take as a near and clean leader too preferred to make money from Malik Riaz . On behalf of Imran Khan and his spouse , notorious Farah Gogi allegedly made many deals to mint hundreds of billions of rupees and Al-Qadir University fraud and adjustment of € 190 million which he surrendered to National Crime Agency (NCA) of United Kingdom is one of many examples. This single fraud involved Rs 60 billion of public money. NAB teams reportedly questioned many staffers of Bahria Town during it’s joint raids on Bahria Town offices.
