ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo, Mian Nawaz Sharif, has been given a ‘stay cool and get relief’ message in London.
Highly reliable sources confided to NEWSMAN that the messenger for PMLN supremo was not any Tom and Jerry, but a former prime minister and very senior party leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Abbasi had visited UK on a short notice a couple of weeks ago and held more than one meetings with Mian Nawaz Sharif in London.
“We have credible information that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had extremely important meetings with highly placed authorities in Islamabad before his departure to UK on a very special mission”, an informed source in Islamabad said.
Abbasi had held three meetings with Nawaz Sharif in London to convey him the special message and discuss with him a possible political scenario of Pakistan in the wake of upcoming senate elections.
The senate elections are being held in March next. The outcome of these elections can set a clear direction of Pakistan’s politics.
According to the sources, Mian Nawaz Sharif has been conveyed by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi that his tirade on Pakistan’s security related institutions will inflict irreparable loss to PMLN and Sharifs .
Mian Nawaz Sharif has been asked to shun his policy of targeting the military and other key institutions if he wants some concessios for his daughter, Maryam Nawaz .
Abbasi’s visit to UK was a surprise for many in Pakistan as his name was in the exit control list (ECL) and being an accused of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) he could not travel abroad unless his name was removed from ECL.
The importance of Abbasi’s visit to UK could be guaged from only one factor that the federal cabinet granted approval for his (one time) travel to UK in just 12 hours.
Since his departure for UK in 2017, Nawaz Sharif is continously attacking the state institutions. His strategy seems to get relief for his family, particularly in NAB cases, by creating pressure on decisive forces of Pakistan. The formation of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was also a part of the same strategy .
Informed political pundits in Pakistan argue that Nawaz Sharif’s strategy of pressing things hard to force the decision -makers to bow down and give required relief to his family has not yielded desired result. Rather, these pundits strongly believe PMLN supremo’s strategy of having war on powerful institutions like the army and judiciary proved counterproductive that added to woes of Sharifs, besides weakening PMLN in recent past.
In the given scenario, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s visit to UK and having meetings with Nawaz Sharif is of extra ordinary significane.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s visit to UK for meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif had worked well as self-exiled PMLN supremo has apparently taken a hiatus in his declared policy of attacking the state institutions.
As a goodwill gesture for the message conveyed by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the government may not cancel passport of Mian Nawaz Sharif . Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family may get more relief in the future if he takes the conveyed message in good spirit and gives up his current strategy of fighting against the state institutions of Pakistan
