“No immediate elections” : Asif Zardari declares

ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan People Party (PPP) top leader and former president , Asif Ali Zardari, has ruled out any possibility of immediate general elections in the country. Addressing a group of journalists here on Wednesday , former president said he spoke to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) top leader , Mian Nawaz Sharif , by phone in London a day before making these assertions. He said the coalition government will first complete electoral reforms which can take three to four months and then call in general elections in the country. Senior Zardari said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leadership was misguiding overseas Pakistanis. He enquired ‘ What would he (Imran Khan do by having early elections ,nothing” and then added ” He (Imran Khan) is a cricketer and has nothing to do with the politics”. Mr Zardari taunted Imran Khan in his typical style and said ‘ what he did in his last four years rule and what he can do by going into mid term elections”. He challenged PTI to contest election from Sindh and see how popular he was.
PPP top leader categorically rejected the conspiracy theory of the PTI and said there was no truth in PTI claim of US sponsored conspiracy . He said Imran Khan is banking on a narrative based on lies and his conspiracy theory was a part of his same strategy. He added that he led the plan to oust Imran Khan from power and none from US administration contacted him. He said ‘ Biden was a friend of mine and in such a case he would have phoned me”.
Regarding neutrality of the armed forces , Asif Ali Zardari said ” its not my concern who will be next army chief all what I would be concerned about that any selected should not come into power through back door”. He maintained that the army has proven its neutral and for it he should salute to Bajwa not fight with him.
