LAHORE: Ombudsman Punjab, Major Azam Suleman Khan, has taken serious notice of a complaint filed by Lubna Habib, a students from Bukhar, and issued directions to the concerned provincial departments to form out an integrated system to ensure that all deserving students in the province get scholarship to meet their educational expense without any delay.
The Ombudsman Punjab issued these orders to senior officials of concerned departments including Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Social Security Protection Punjab and Department of Schools in Punjab during a meeting held in Ombudsman office in Lahore.
The Ombudsman had summoned the chairman PITB, CEO Social Security Protection Punjab and secretary Schools Punjab to hear the views of the senior officials of the concerned departments of the Punjab to address the complaints filed to his office in recent months.
The Ombudsman office Punjab is receiving complaints from students of different districts of Punjab of non award of scholarships putting their education at stake.
The Ombudsman Punjab had issued notices to all concerned departments and directed their senior officials to appear before him in person to ensure that the issue of the students is resolved there and then.
Responding to the notice, the Chairman PITB, CEO Social Security Protection Department Punjab and secretary Schools Punjab told the Ombudsman that the Punjab government has already devised an integrated system to have better coordination among different departments related to the issue and it will ensure award of scholarships to all deserving students in the province under Punjab Khidmat Card Policy.
