ISLAMABAD, October 15,2024: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their strategic partnership, with a focus on expanding cooperation across key sectors such as trade, defense, and regional security.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang during his stay met with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, as well as President Asif Ali Zardari, Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Additionally, the Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force held meetings with the Chinese Premier, according to statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He wrapped up his official visit to Pakistan on October 17, 2024, after holding high-level talks with Pakistani leaders and attending the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad.
The visit, which took place at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saw discussions aimed at further solidifying the deep-rooted Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
During his stay, Premier Li The talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including trade, defense, and regional security. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to expanding practical cooperation and aligning their strategic goals, with the overarching aim of strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
Both Pakistan and China emphasized the enduring strength of their relationship, which has remained steadfast since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Notably, the bilateral partnership gained further momentum following President Xi Jinping’s landmark state visit to Pakistan in 2015 and Prime Minister Sharif’s successful visit to China in June 2024.
These visits have bolstered political trust, deepened cooperation, and created closer strategic coordination between the two countries.
Pakistan reaffirmed its support for key initiatives championed by President Xi Jinping, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative.
Both sides called for an inclusive, multipolar global system and pledged to work together toward a future of peace, security, and prosperity for all nations.
The two countries also agreed on the strategic significance of their relationship in the current global environment, underlining that any efforts to undermine their cooperation would not succeed.
The Chinese side reiterated that the Pakistan-China partnership is a priority in China’s foreign policy, while Pakistan reiterated that its relationship with China is central to its foreign policy.
