Pakistan revert to strict restrictions as corona surges

No shut down of businesses during new virus. PM

ISLAMABAD: With omicron’s quick surge in different parts of the country, the government has imposed strict corona- related restrictions which would remain effective forthwith.
According to a notification of the government issued on Wednesday, the cities with 10 % infection rate will not allow any kind of public gatherings. Indoor dinning will not be allowed and only vaccinated persons will be served at hotels and restaurants. Marriage Hall remain shut completely .
The public tranport will operate at 70 % capacity, indoor and outdoor events would be restricted to 500 and 300 attendence only.
The schools will have 50 % on campus attendence for three days a week. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) made vaccination of 12 years old students mandatory for school attendence. It also reduced attendence inside gyms to 50 %.
The NCOC had informed the federal cabinet on Tuesday last that Omicron was spreading fast across Pakistan and the situation arising out of it demands quick response from all federal and provincial departments to stop it lest it takes ugly turn.
As a result of better handling, Pakistan had managed to keep the corona pandemic at a treatable level. Its strategy for the first four phases of corona has been widely appreciated globally. With experience and better understanding , Pakistan seems confident to tackle fifth phase with even better strategy. Pakistqn is among those a few lucky countries where corona related loss both in terms of human and financial loss been very nominal.
Meanwhile, prime minister, Imran Khan, said the government will not close down businesses in current corona phase.
