ISLAMABAD : Dec 3,2022; President, Dr Arif Alvi, too has failed to convince the chief minister Punjab, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi , to buy the idea of dissolving Punjab assembly to put pressure on the federal government to dissolve national assembly as well as other provincial assemblies and call fresh general elections in the country.
Sources told NEWSMAN on the condition of not mentioning his name in the story that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi has conveyed to president Dr Arif Alvi and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran khan, in a closed door meeting held in Lahore last week that he would prefer to resign rather than dissolving the Punjab assembly.
Imran Khan wanted from Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to dissolve the Punjab assembly and seeing his reluctance he had asked president Arif Alvi to play a role to persuade Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to act on his advice to put pressure on Shahbaz Sharif led government for calling fresh elections in the country.
PTI chief had declared in his address on the last leg to “Azadi March” in Rawalpindi on Nov 25 last that his party was going to get out of all assembles .
Although some political analysts had termed Imran Khan’s move to get out of assemblies as a great political move , but it turned into a nightmare for Imran Khan when Chaudhary Pervez Elahi did not agree to the idea of dissolving the Punjab assembly in the current political scenario.
Although Chaudhary Pervez Elahi is issuing the statements of not delaying Imran Khan’s order for a minute for dissolution of the Punjab assembly and create an impression that he was royal to Imran Khan who made his chief minister Punjab when his party had only 10 members of the Punjab assembly , but insiders tell a different story. These insiders claim that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi has a clear position on the dissolution of the Punjab assembly and he is convinced that getting out of the provincial assembly will not be a good move politically for Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) and PTI.

Pervez Elahi’s stance on the dissolution of the Punjab assembly has put Imran Khan in a difficult position.
