In his address to the nation , Mr Shahbaz Sharif declared that the government will no longer be in the business and setting -up any industry in the public sector. Pakistan in 80s decided to set up mega industries besides having a parallel business setup to the private sector. As a result neither the public sector nor the private sector could grow in the past 50 years . Rather , all those industries which were established in the public sector have become a black hole which is continually sucking financial resources of Pakistan. Pakistan Steel , PIA, PiCIC , DISCOs name any department operating in the public sector it is sucking billions of rupees annually. Now after five decades , the government has realised that its policy of running a parallel industrial units or businesses have really tuned into a fiasco and its time for Pakistan to get out of businesseses and industrial activities. Pakistan is injecting Rs 500 billion every year in public sector industries and this big chunk of money is not available with the government for such activities now. The prime minister counted achievements of his government in his speech. He said a 5- year mission of Pakistan ‘s development has begun and his government will take hard decisions in the next one and half months to put Pakistan’s economy back on the track. Shahbaz Sharif said those who were involved in gas , electricity theft , tax evasion or those civil servants who were not delivering were enemy of Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif said those who disgraced martyrs and heros of the nation were also enemy of Pakistan. The prime minister claimed that his government is focusing on investment domestic as well as foreign to expedite journey of economic growth of Pakistan . He said Pakistan will be a fast developing country in the future. He quoted Japan and Germany which were damaged in the second world war but they bounced back to make unprecedented progress from destruction.
