Islamabad : Feb 20,2024: After a series of consultative meetings, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan People Party (PPP) have finally reached to a power sharing formula for setting up the government in the centre.. Rather it was around 12 at night when PMLN president , Shahbaz Sharif and PPP supremo , Asif Ali Zardari and party chairman , Balawal Bhutto announced the details of the power sharing at a presser in Islamabad . Prior to formal announcement of the power sharing formula , Balawal Bhutto had held a meeting with Shahbaz Sharif at Ishaq Dar’s residence here.
As per power sharing formula , PPP will vote in favour of Shahbaz Sharif in the election of the prime minister and in return PMLN will support Asif Ali Zardari for president’s election. Shahbaz Sharif has become a joint candidate of PPP , PMLN and MQM. Some other small political party can also support Shahbaz Sharif in the prime minister ‘s election. Giving details of the power sharing formula , PPP chairman , Balawal Bhutto said Shahbaz Sharif will be joint candidate of PPP and PMLN for the prime minister and in return PMLN will support Asif Ali Zardari for president ‘s slot . Balawal Bhutto disagreed with a reporter that delay in the government formation in the centre was a cause of concern. . He said PPP and PMLN have reached a consensus on the formation of the government in very short time. Shahbaz Sharif thanked PPP leadership for putting him as joint candidate for the election of the prime minister.
On the issue of agreement on constitutional posts, Balawal Bhutto said these details will be decided and announced in due course of time. Both parties said they have numbers required to win the prime minister election. Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) said PPP , PMLN are going for PDM -2.
