Sindh agrees to open educational institutions from August 30

THATHA: Mounting public pressure worked finally as Sindh government announced on Monday to open up all educational institutions from August 30, 2021.

announced opening up of educational institutions in Sindh during a press conference.
Earlier, the civil society, parents and students had started protests against closure of educational institutions in Sindh.

A number of protests to this regard were held in different cities of Sindh in last few days.

Thatha protest

The representatives of civil society and a large number of parents and studens participated in the protest.
Social and political workers including Asif Qureshi, Raheela Bhutto, Mushtaq Somroo led the protest.

The protestors announced to unlock schools, colleges in Thatha in case the Sindh government did not issue notification to open up educational institutions from August 23, 2021.

Sindh government is keeping educational institutions closed on the pretext of rising cases of Corona pandemic.

Sindh government had previously scheduled to open – up educational institutions in the province from August 23, 2021, but later rescheduled it for August 30, 2021.

It again took a big U turn and closed educational institutions indefinately.

Sindh education minister had claimed on the other day that the provincial government had changed its schedule for opening- up educational institutions inline with National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) decision.

Today federal education minister , Shafqat Mamood, strongly contradicted the claim of Sindh’s education minister and clarified that the Sindh was keeping its educational institutions closed at its own.

The clarification of the federal government is enough to expose Sindh’s double standard on this vital issue.
Many segments of the society are doubting Sindh government intention over schools closure. They bilieve that Sindh government was intentionally damaging education in the provinces for reasons better known to it.

A day before the civil society and journalists haf held an “Open educational institutions in Sindh rally” at Dhabeji press club.
The rally was attended by hundreds of people imcluding PTI leader , Murad Nahio, Mir Maluk Khan Murree, president Dhabeji press club, Maqsood Ahmad Jokio, Maulana Saeed ur Rehman, Functional League leader, Faqir Javed Jokio, Javed Jokio, Student Iqra Jokio, Faqir Ramzan Nahio, Zohaib Jokio, Riaz Ahmad Jokio, Fazal Rabi Khan, Maula Bux Katiar, Hafeez jokio, Rafi ullah Khan, Mohiuddin Jokio, Shahjahan Pathan and a large number of other people of various segment of the society.
The speakers in their address to the rally said the provincial government’s non- serious policies have destroyed educational system in Sindh.

They said all educational institutions are closed that are causing irriparable loss to the students who are future of the nation.
The speakers alleged that the children of the rulers were studying abroad and for the same they lack interest in local educational institutions.
The protestors later chanted slogans against the provincial government. They denounced the government policy of keep closing educational institutions indefinately. They raised slogan No to deprivation of education in Sindh”.
