Islamabad : July 25,2024 : In a major development , the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday notified 39 members of the National Assembly as a part of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI). ECP decision has come in the light of SCP verdict . SCP had directed to ECP two weeks ago to return reserved seats to PTI by overturning the Peshawar High Court decision which had ruled that since PTI had not contested the general election 2024 as a party therefore it can not qualify for reserved seats of the National Assembly . ECP in the light of PHC’s final decision had awarded reserved seats to other parties which had presence in the National Assembly . The Sunny Ittehad Counsel (SIC) had challenged ECP decision in the apex court . PTI welcomed ECP’s decision to award its reserved seats . PTI chairman , Gohar Ali Khan , reacted to ECP decision of Thursday and told the media persons that PTI was happy over getting reserved seats.
