RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ET&NCD) has devised a plan to launch a crackdown on habitual tax defaulter owners of two kanal and larger luxury houses in the Rawalpindi Division, including cantonment areas.
This action is part of the enforcement of a one-time tax introduced under the Punjab Finance Act, 2014, applicable to homes constructed after 2000 that meet the minimum size requirement of two kanals and 6,000 square feet.
According to Imran Aslam, Director of Excise and Taxation for the Rawalpindi Division, 95% of luxury homeowners in the region have already settled their tax obligations. He warned that strict measures will be taken against the remaining 5% who are unwilling to comply.
Currently, approximately 175 luxury houses in the Rawalpindi Division are identified as defaulters. The department has compiled a list of these properties, but some owners are refusing to provide necessary details to the authorities.
