Islamabad : Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) won a crucial legal battle for reserved seats at the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Friday , pushing its political and other opponents to the wall literally. A full court of SCP announced a reserved judgment in reserved seats case and ruled that Imran Khan ‘s PTI was not only a political party, but also a rightful to get propotionate reserved seats in the national assembly and all four provincial assemblies. SCP ‘s full court gave the judgment in the case by 8 to 5 ratio. Chief justice Qazi Faiz Essa and four other judges dissented to the majority decision . Justice Mansoor Ali Shah read out the judgment at noon . SCP ruled in the decision that ECP’s decision of March 4 wherein it denied reserved seats to PTI was ultra constitutional and hence it was overturned with a direction that PTI be given its due reserved seats. This decision is a big victory of PTI and its going to lift up its moral in coming days. SCP ruling is likely to push Shahbaz government in sluggish waters in the coming days. It’s also going to hit Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja , below the belt . CEC will be a prime target of PTI . Its leaders demanded resignation from CEC and provincial CEC soon after SCP decision. Shahbaz Sharif ‘s government has suffered a big blow as SCP has stripped it off two-third majority in the lower house. Not only this , SCP’s hammer has left the ruling alliance in a weak position politically . The government seems in total disarray as ministers rushed to hold press conference soon after SCP ‘s decision.
