Islamabad : 10-year old Sara Sharif’s heinous murder in United Kingdom (UK) and in its follow up life term in jail awarded by a UK court to father –Irfan Sharif , Batool Banish –step mother and 16-year term to uncle, Faisal Malik, have left many glaring questions for all those who were closely watching to the trial of this murder case since August.

The judge while delivering verdict in Sara Sharif murder case said all these three accused were involved in killing of an innocent 10-year old girl and they are being awarded sentences for their heinous crime . The details presented in the court in Sara Sharif murder case were horrifying . The postpartum report presented in the court confirmed that the accused put the innocent girl –Sara –to horrifying torture .

She was beaten with sticks and bats injuring her skull and rest of the body . Irfan Sharif and his other accomplices scorched Sara Sharif ‘s body with hot Iron . Can a father do this kind of crime to his 10-year old daughter ? Why Sara ‘s step mother did not stop Irfan Sharif from doing all this? Why Faisal Malik became a party to this unthinkable crime ?

The question that comes to everyone’s mind is what the hell Sara Sharif did which offended to his father , step mother and uncle that they all turned beasts and finally tortured her to death? UK court decision suggests that the countries where the rule of law exists , decides even the heinous cases like Sara’s in months and not in decades . Its the level of the rule of law which establishes how a country copes with criminals and murders like Irfan Sharif.

Will Pakistan’s ruling elite learn anything from Sara Sharif ‘s case to achieve at least minimum level of the rule of law in this country and reform it’s rotten judicial system ?
