KARACHI: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team on Thursday arrested Sarim Burney from Karachi airport in a human trafficking case.
Sarim Burney a human activist had reached at Karachi International Airport when FIA team took him into custody under Human Trafficking Section of the authority. Sarim Burney , a trustee of Burney Welfare Trust Karachi has been alleged of trafficking 25 minors mostly girls to US. His activity involving alleged smuggling of small kinds to US was detected in US and Us authorities questioned him twice during his recent visit to Karachi. Following questioning by US authorities , FIA sprang up in action. In initial investigations, FIA found that Sarim Burney and his spouse have developed a network under the guise of philanthropy that buys kids mostly females to smuggle them to US.
After going through initial investigations, FIA registered a case against Sarim Burney and he was taken into custody from Karachi airport on returning from US.
FIA further investigations can lead to arrest of other members of Sarim Burney’s network including his spouse who is also trustee of Burney Welfare Trust. FIA may add the name of Sarim Burney’s wife to the case and take her into custody for investigations in this case
