Islamabad (Newsman): Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, met with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, who underlined Pakistan’s commitment to growing economic connections with Ethiopia and the wider African market under the “Look Africa Policy.”

The minister noted that to maximize involvement and cooperation, a series of seminars engaging the business communities of both countries are being organized in Pakistan before the exhibition.

Pakistan’s Strategic Approach to Tapping into African Markets

Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the Ministry of Commerce are working hard to prepare for the event, which intends to link Ethiopian and Pakistani businessmen and open access to Africa’s sizable market of 1.4 billion people.

Jam Kamal Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the “Look Africa and Engage Africa Policy,” stressing Ethiopia’s strategic importance as a gateway to the continent and a hub of consistent economic growth.

He cited Ethiopia’s remarkable economic data, such as its 8.4% GDP growth rate and the robustness of its aviation sector, which has 140 aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines.

Ambassador Highlights Ethiopia-Pakistan Cooperation and Developments

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula gave important information about Ethiopia’s economic developments and bilateral cooperation.

He explained that Ethiopia exports wheat to foreign markets and now serves Pakistan with four weekly flights. It intends to start direct flights from Lahore and Islamabad shortly.

The ambassador praised Ethiopia and Pakistan’s expanding relationship, citing recent agreements in commerce, trade, aviation, research, and technology.

He also emphasized Ethiopia’s “Home-Grown Economic Reforms,” which address macroeconomic issues and boost productivity to create an atmosphere that is favorable to investors.

The two countries were hopeful that the Addis Ababa Single Country Exhibition would help Pakistani traders interact with the larger African market to enhance trade between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
