Islamabad : May 31 ,2024 : Since the prices of crude oil had gone down to $ 79 per barrel globally , the commuters in Pakistan were expecting a substantial reduction in the rates of petroleum products on Friday night . A news flashed on almost all TV channels with identical words like PM’s big decision enhanced hopes of Pakistanis to get good reduction in the prices of petroleum products , but their hopes proved shortlived when cut in the rates of petroleum products was meagre like Rs 4.74 and Rs 3.86 per liter against actual relief to over Rs 15 a litre .The sharp decline in crude oil prices in the global market had set a tone for a proportionate cut in the rates of petroleum products and it could bring some smile on faces of inflation -ravaged Pakistanis. Perhaps it was not important for the ruling elite. The ruling elite only prefers its exemptions. Depriving the people of legitimate benefit of lowering crude oil prices is a crime and a cruel joke with the people of this country. Nobody knows how long this injustice will continue.
