ISLAMABAD :: (July 10,2022). Stunning allegations of Tayyaba Gull , a lady who is in the headlines in the local media after her stunning disclosure that she was kept in forced custody at prime minister house in Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) regime was going to have far -reaching consequences for ousted prime minister , Imran Khan.
Tayyana Gull , whose husband was in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody in a corruption case , had approached to Imran Khan for justice against highhandedness of former NAB chairman .
Mrs Gull narrated her ordeal a few days ago in the media and alleged that she was kept in illegal custody at prime minister house in PTI rule for one and half months.
The case of Tayyaba Gull , if prove , will eradicate credibility of PTI chief , Imran Khan, as no one other in the prime minister house could do such an act like making hostage to an aggrieved lady for using the material given by her relating to involvement of Justice( R) Javed Iqbal against his political opponents.
The lady had first met extremely humiliating attitude at the hands of former NAB chairman , justice (R) Javed Iqbal .
Tayyaba Gull’s allegations against Justice (R) Javed Iqbal are of serious nature.
These allegations suggested that the former NAB chairman was a characterless person who commonly misused his official position to exploit women who approached him for justice in any case.
After Tayyaba Gull , Amina Janjua, a representative of missing persons committee , had levelled similar allegations against Justice( R) Javed Iqbal.
She had told a private TV anchor in recent past that a lady whose husband was among the missing persons came to her office and broke down in tears while giving accounts of conversation made by former NAB chairman when she approached him as a chairman of missing persons commission (MPC). She claimed that the aggrieved lady was sexually harassed by Justice (R) Javed Iqbal. According to Amina Janjua Justice (R) Javed Iqbal told the aggrieved lady that since she was pretty and does not need a husband .
These two cases depict the dark side of our society. Unfortunately , the phenomenon of exploitation of women folk in Pakistani is very common. Those who enjoy high position in any field , a big percentage if not majority , indulges in this social evil as there is no accountability of such loathing behaviours in Pakistan’s male dominating society .
Keeping in mind the social taboos , women hardly speak out to expose those who commit such crime and this approach provides an environment where the criminals involved in women’s exploitation go scot -free.
Tayyaba Gull’s allegations of keeping her in forced custody that too at prime minister house is beyond even thinking in a society where the rule of law exits. The nature of the allegations is extremely serious rather disturbing .
There is urgent need of an independent investigation into the case and, if proven , all its characters should be punished no matter how powerful they were to set an example that noone be allowed to exploit womenfolk at any level by anyone in Pakistani society.
