ISLAMABAD: With induction of Umar Shaikh as CCPO Lahore and Inam Ghani as Inspector General Punjab (IGP), Buzdar government’s real face could be read without any ambiguity.
For Umar Shaikh his colleagues in Punjab police call him as a beacon of corruption in the department. He was found involved in many mega corruption cases and Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other agencies have piles of proofs against him for his unbridled corruption at different posts during his tenure as senior police officer.
The social media is mudslinging on him since his induction as CCPO Lahore. Every U tuber is running horrible stories of his corruption and even then despite his tainted repute he won the fight of power against his own boss, IGP—Shoaib Dastagir.
With drum out of Shoab Dastagir from Punjab, its like two plus two to assess real power of Umar Shaikh and reach to a final conclusion that he as CCPO enjoys full support of some powerful government authority. One also needs to recall video clip of Shahzad Akbar, an advisor to prime minister, Imran Khan, and a man known for his association with country’s top land grabbers.
Shahzad Akbar is not a simple advisor to the prime minister. Rather, he is a very influential and powerful character of Imran Khan’s government. If you recall his video clip wherein he outrightly protected and supported Umar Shaikh in incident of Motorway rape case, it will give exact idea who is backing Umar Shaikh .
The language used by the CCPO Lahore to justify the heinous crime of raping a women at Motorway cannot be even digested in a even a half sensible society. It also suggests the level of understanding and sense of duty of the CCPO.
After his condemnable statement, rather loose talk, social media is rightful in asking the CCPO Lahore what could be his reaction if, God forbid, such incident occurs with his own family member?
The case of Umar Shaikh was still to bring a lull in the storm when Buzdar and Co picked- up another known corrupt as replacement of Shoaib Dastagir.
Inam Ghani had earned extremely bad reputation as police officer in KPK and then he maintained the same repute as FIA officer. He as one of the sources of this story claims is known as SP ‘Alachiwala’. Why Alachiwala? My sources said Inam Ghani earned this bad name as SP Peshawar when he seized a truck load of ‘Alachies’ and then sold this confiscated Alachies load of a truck in Peshawar market. This is how he was named after as SP ‘Alachiwala’.
As FIA officer in Islamabad, Inam Ghani was allegedly involved in human trafficking and his own department –Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)—was investigating at least one case of trafficking of Afghan nationals from Islamabad airport to Europe when he was director FIA, Islamabad . Inam Ghani, according to reliable sources, had a role in smuggling of Afghan nationals from Islamabad airport a few years back.
Sources said Buzdar and Co had picked- up known ‘corrupt officers’ for top slots of the Punjab police to use them against the political opponent, in particular, house of Sharifs for crushing them completely in Pakistan’s politics. These sources also claim that these picked-up police officers will also give tough time to other political parties in Punjab and make a way for PTI win in upcoming local bodies’ elections.
