ISLAMABAD : Dec 31,2022; The price of petroleum products were expected to decrease substantially, but the
government took a surprising decision to keep the rates unchanged .
Finance minister , Ishaq Dar , claimed on Saturday evening that the prices of petroleum products from January 1 to 15 will remain unchanged .
Ishaq Dar claimed the prices of petroleum products have gone up in international market and instead taking Oil and Gas Development Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommendations to jack up rates for the local consumers , the government has decided to.maintain the rates at the current level.
Interestingly, crude oil prices have gone down from $ 100 plus to $ 80 per barrel and seeing massive drop in the global market the commuters were foreseeing major cut in the rates of petroleum products.
With Saturday’s decision of keeping the prices of petroleum products unchanged the hope of good days vanished.
Petrol rate will remain Ra 214.80 per litr . The rates of High Speed Diesel (HSD) will remain at Rs 227.80 per liter .
Kerosene rates for next fortnight will remain Rs 171.83 per liter . The rates of light speed diesel per liter for next 15 days will remain Rs 169 per liter.
