ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM), Malik Amin Aslam, said that Prime Minister’s billion tree project was in progress as per schedule.
SAPM said that Government’s initiative to plant ten billion trees is a nationwide campaign that will change behavior of people towards climate.
The Minister was addressing during tree plantation ceremony as part of the “Clean Green Pakistan” initiative at Pak Farid Park at Sector . SAPM 1stressed the need to organize such events frequently to create awareness on plantation among masses. The Minister apprised that Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation is working on “Clean & Green Islamabad” project and it is dreamed to see a Cleaner and Greener Islamabad during the years to come. The Industry must also work on Cleaner Production philosophy, he added.
Mian Akram Farid, Chairman ICCI Founder Group and former President Islamabad Industrial Association, said that Tree Plantation is important for climate change. M. Akram Farid was the main host of the ceremony who was leading Industry for the requisite tree plantation drive. M. Akram Farid said that around 10,000 trees will be planted in/ by Industry during the current year.
M. Akram Farid underlined efforts of Steel Industry in Islamabad for installing pollution control plants with Steel Furnaces. Islamabad has emerged as a pollution free Industrial Zone as a result of this initiative, he said. The industry is focused on cleaner and greener production aligned with Government policies, he added. Involvement of private sector organizations for developing public parks and chowks is a wise and cost effective step to develop and beautify the Capital City, Mr. Farid exclaimed.
