Solidarity with flood affectees ; army cancels defence day celebrations

RAWALPINDI: August 31,2022: Director general Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), major general , Babar Nadeem , on Wednesday tweeted that in solidarity with the floods affected people of Pakistan, central ceremony at GHQ to commemorate Defence & Martyrs Day on September 6,2022 has been postponed .

Pakistan armed.forces shall continue serving our brothers and sisters struck by unprecedented floods, the tweet reads.

Earlier , ISPR issued an update on the
army relief efforts

It said 140 helicopter sorties were conducted in flood affected areas of the country for rescue/ relief operation during the last 24 hours.

It added more than 550 stranded individuals evacuated through Army helicopters from various flood affected areas.

The ISPR said the army helicopter delivered 29 x tons of ration/ relief items during last 24 hours.

It said 6140 ration packets and 325 tents distribution among flood affectees all across the county during last 24 hours.

It also added that 5213 patients have been treated so for in various medical camps and 224 relief items collection points are functional in formations area of responsibility for collection and onwards distribution of relief stores.
