President Alvi’s suggestion on elections of no legal value

ISLAMABAD: Sept 14: Caretaker Prime minister , Anwaarul Haq Kakar, on Thursday said president Arif Alvi’s letter on the elections date has no legal authority .

The prime minister told a private TV channel during an interview here that president Arif Alvi belongs to a political party and he has his own opinion, but his suggestion to hold general elections on or before November 6 has no legal validity .

The caretaker prime minister added that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is an ultimate authority and it’s in the process of making arrangements for holding upcoming elections in the country .

Anwaarul Haq Kakar noted that his caretaker government has full legal authority and its operating under the same. He said his caretaker government will stay in the power as long as the constitution of Pakistan permits it to stay and run the affairs of the country . The prime minister said he is taking cautious decisions to keep critics off the caretaker setup. He added that his government will not allow anyone to challenge the writ of the state.

He said Pakistan was facing an uphill task of reviving its economy and he will vote for the party which will give a plan in its manifesto to revive the national economy . Mr Kakar said he will ensure that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran Khan, gets all those concessions of a former prime minister .
