Islamabad: April 26,2024 : Spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch , on Friday said there are no backdoor negotiations with India and there is no change in the trade policy with India.
Senior Diplomatic Correspondent Asghar Ali Mubarak had asked the Foreign Office Spokesman that there are media reports of trade diplomacy with India and different sections of Pakistan’s society are discussing trade with India. So, is there any backdoor diplomacy/trade diplomacy going on?.
In response to it, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch clarified regarding India-Pakistan relations that no backdoor negotiations are going on with India, no private individual has been entrusted with the responsibility of normalizing relations with India.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said there is currently no information about normalizing trade relations with India, there has been no change in Pakistan’s trade policy with India.
As I have said in the past, whenever we receive any suggestions or requests from various sections of the society including our business community, the spokesperson said.
We review these requests and this is a routine matter. And at this stage I have no information to share with you about Pakistan’s position or change in its policy towards trade with India.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have long-standing relations, communication channels exist between the two countries.
We have said on the multilateral forum that Afghanistan should fulfill its obligations under the Doha Agreement, he further said that we are constantly informing the Afghan authorities about terrorism in Pakistan from the Afghan territory and want the Afghan government to ensure that their territory is not used against Pakistan.
