PESHAWAR – The Provincial Management Service Association (PMSA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has strongly condemned the heinous attack on Deputy Commissioner Kurram, Javedullah Mahsud, terming it not just an assault on an individual but a direct attack on the state system and administrative framework.
The incident occurred on January 4, 2025, when the Deputy Commissioner and his security personnel were ambushed by terrorists while performing their official duties, leaving them critically injured. A spokesperson for PMSA stated that this cowardly attack highlights the dire risks faced by civil officers operating in sensitive and volatile areas.
Despite these threats, they continue to serve with unwavering dedication, often under life-threatening conditions. The association stressed the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of these officers.
PMSA has called upon the federal and provincial governments to implement the following security measures immediately:
1. Provision of bulletproof vehicles for officers deployed in high-risk areas.
2. Strengthening security protocols and assigning trained security personnel to accompany civil officers.
3. A thorough review and improvement of existing security arrangements.
The association emphasized that ensuring the safety of civil officers is not just a necessity but a moral and legal responsibility of the state. PMSA expressed solidarity with Deputy Commissioner Kurram, his family, and all injured security personnel, wishing them a speedy recovery.
