Ayotullah Khamenei’s assassination sparks violent protests across Pakistan

Violent huge crowed stormed in US consulate in Karachi. Police use tear gasing , baton charge to disperse crowd . 9 killed 34 other injured in violence

Islamabad : Islamabad.: Following assassination of Iran’s Supreme leader , Ayotullah Khamenei, in the US and Israel attacks on Saturday morning, violent protests have erupted across Pakistan.

A big charged crowed stormed into US consulate in Karachi on Sunday morning following announcement of assassination of Ayotullah Khamenei, which resulted in killings of 9 protestors in the firing.

In Gilgit Baltistan, charged big crowed also took to the streets to protest assassination of Ayotullah Khamenei. The crowed torched UN offices in Skarsu. After getting of the situation out of control , the law enforcing agencies took control of the administration. Later , the curfew was imposed in Gilgit -Baltistan to avoid unforeseen incident

In Lahore , the crowed tried to enter into US consulate. The police used force to disperse the protestors which left dozen injured . Some of them injured seriously.

Interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi, took to the media to appeal to the protestors not to take the law hand in protesting assassination of Ayotullah Khamenei. He said in a video message its a sorrowful day not only for one sect of Muslims or for one country , but for the whole of Muslim community.

Meanwhile , US embassy in Islamabad has issued a red alert , advising American citizens in Pakistan to exercise the best protection SoPs to avoid any mishap.

” We are monitoring reports of ongoing demonstrations at the U.S. Consulates General in Lahore and violent protests at the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi, as well as calls for additional demonstrations at U.S. Embassy Islamabad and U.S. Consulate General Peshawar. U.S. government personnel have been directed to restrict their movements until further notice.

We advise U.S. citizens in Pakistan to monitor local news, observe good personal security practices, including being aware of your surroundings, avoiding large crowds, and ensuring your STEP registration is up to date.

Due to protest activity around the U.S. Consulates General in Karachi and Lahore, and the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, all appointments for U.S. visas and American Citizen Services are canceled for tomorrow, March 2.

Avoid areas of large public gatherings.
Review your personal security plans.
Monitor local media for updates.
Monitor email and local media for further updates regarding appointments at all locations.
