ME crisis : PM Shahbaz cancels visit to Russia , speaks to King of Bahrain : PMO

PM to visit Russia at some other time. Assures unflinching support to Bahrain, Jordan in these hard times

Islamabad: March 1, 2026. Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has cancelled his scheduled visit to Russia in the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East (ME).

According to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) , the prime minister will visit Russia at some other time.

The prime minister held a telephonic conversation with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, to discuss the ongoing crisis in the Middle East in the aftermath of the recent hostilities between Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Iran’s subsequent retaliatory attacks on several Gulf countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Prime Minister said that such unprovoked acts of aggression only escalate the situation and threaten the peace and stability of the entire region.

He assured the leadership of Bahrain that Pakistan stood firmly with Bahrain and other brotherly Gulf countries and underscored the need for maximum restraint in this difficult time.

He emphasized the need to preserve the primacy of international law and reiterated that Pakistan would always remain committed to supporting peace efforts and urge all parties to engage in diplomacy and seek a negotiated solution to the crisis.

” Spoke today with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people of Bahrain during the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

While praying for the safety and security of our brothers and sisters in Bahrain, I emphasized restraint, respect for international law, and the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region”.

The prime minister also spoke to King of Jordan to discuss the situation arising in the Middle Wast after US and Israel attacks on Iran and assassination of Iran’s supreme leader , Ayatollah Khanenei.
