LAHORE: Jan 12, 2023: Finally, Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, has won the political game and achieved his goal of dissolving the Punjab assembly to force the province to go for fresh elections.
After Punjab, PTI intends to dissolve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PKP) in the next 48 hours.
The purpose of PTI in dissolving the KPK and Punjab assembly is to force the federal government to call fresh elections in the country.
PTI leader, Fawad Chaudhary, on Thursday, said in his talk to the media that a summary duly signed by the chief minister, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi, for dissolution of the Punjab assembly has been sent to the Governor who would formally issue a notification for it.
Fawad Chaudhary also added that the Punjab assembly would stand dissolved after 48 hours even if the Governor does not sign the summary and issue a notification for it.
Winning the vote of confidence by Chaudhary Pervez Elahi in the wee hours of Thursday paved the way for the dissolution of the Punjab assembly. But more interestingly the Governor’s decision of revoking his order of December 23, 2022, made Imran Khan’s job to dissolve the Punjab assembly very easy.
The governor backing off from his original position and taking back his order to denotify Chaudhary Pervez Elahi stands as a big mystery.
Another mystery that may remain unresolved is who stopped the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) from challenging the vote of confidence taken by Chaudhary Pervez Elahi in the court ?
PML N leaders Rana Sanaullah and others had announced on Thursday early morning to challenge the chief minister’s vote of confidence in the court.
Imran Khan’s last resort of dissolving the KPK and Punjab assemblies has put Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in extremely difficult position. PDM seems beaten in politics and it may not survive Imran Khan’s last resort.
