Scam exposes systematic corruption in Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Sept 6 : In a dangerous development, Khber Pukhtunknaw (KPK) police have hit by a scam of recruiting an Afghan national in its force who, official reports says is currently under training at Kohat Police Training School.

NEWSMAN has got inside story on this dangerous development. The official documents of KPK police suggests that Ibn e Amin, an Afghan national, has made his entry in KPK police as constable after getting a CNIC from National Data Registration Authority (NADRA).

This development involves many questions. 1) How an Afghan national got CNIC from NADRA?. 2) Why his credentials were not scrutinized before permitting him to join the police force in KPk and start training. 3) Now when this case has been exposed what immediate measures have been done against those who issued CNIC to an Afghan national to make his entry in KPK police?.

The appointment of an Afghan national in KPK police as a constable has exposed Pakistan’s weaknesses in entire system. It also speaks of level of corruption in NADRA, an entity supposed to protect Pakistan’s identification system.

Issuance of CNIC by NADRA officials to Afghan nationals is not limited to Ibn e Amin only. There have been many cases in the past which highlighted the issuance of CNIC by NADRA officials to Afghan nationals.

NADRA has taken action against its officials who were involved in issuing CNIC to Afghans for petty money gains, but this case is of peculiar nature as an Afghan national not only managed to get CNIC from NADRA, but also made his entry into KPK police department. Its alarming.

Thanks, this case has been detected and concerned officials of KPK police have started investigations into it as to how an Afghan national got CNIC and later got selection as a constable in KPK police.

The appointment of an Afghan national in KPK police which is the worst victim of terror sponsored from Afghanistan is alarming. Its even more alarming that how an Afghan national managed to get CNIC and other related documents from educational institutions to get appointed in KPK police.

According to an official order of KPK police dated Sept 5, the office of the deputy inspector of general police Internal Accountability KPK has started inquiry into the case. The order suggests that the competent authority which has been assigned inquiry into the case has summoned Ibe n Amin for September 7 (Today) for inquiry.
