Kotri: The MPhil and PhD programs at Sindh University Jamshoro have been canceled for the 2024–2025 academic year after over 98% of applicants did not receive the necessary scores on the most recent admission exam.
10 of the 819 applicants who took the entrance exams for the 34 MPhil and 28 PhD departments passed the exam. While 809 applicants failed, according to the results that are currently available. The institution has decided to forego postgraduate studies this year.
The successful applicants were left in the dark and were probably going to apply to other universities.
The institution will see a drop in government funding as a result of the suspension of the MPhil and PhD programs.

The university also raised the yearly tuition for its PhD and MPhil programs by Rs 330,000 to Rs 580,000, but with the programs suspended this year, the university’s income will drop.
Prof. Dr. Saima Qayyum Memon, the director of research and graduate studies at Sindh University, was called for comment on this topic, but she did not answer.
Dr. Aftab Chandio, director of the Sindh University Testing Center, stated that 50% of the questions on entrance exams for MPhil and PhD programs asked about related subjects, 20% about general English, 15% about qualitative reasoning, and 15% about analytical reasoning.

He stated that the minimum score for admission to the MPhil program was 50%, while the minimum score for the PhD program was 60%.
