Rawalpindi : May 26,2024 : Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces had a telephone conversation in which General Asim Munir expressed deep sorrow and regret over the May 19 helicopter crash.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), the Army Chief, in a telephonic conversation, expressed his condolences on the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian and expressed his best wishes to the bereaved families. In a conversation with the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baghey, Syed Asim Munir said that the late President Ibrahim Raisi and the Iranian Foreign Minister were true friends of Pakistan. Ranks are praying for the repose of the deceased. The army chief clarified that Pakistan has historical, cultural and fraternal relations with Iran, the forces of Pakistan and Iran stand together on all occasions. The Iranian Chief of General Staff expressed his gratitude to the Army Chief for his support in times of sorrow.
