ISLAMABAD; Former president and PPP top leader, Asif Ali Zardari, is likely to be indicted in the fake bank accounts case today (Wednesday).
An accountability court in Islamabad had fixed September 9, 2020 for indictment of former president and other accused in the fake bank accounts case and asked them to appear before the court for indictment. Asif Ali Zardari and other accused have already denied the charges.
NAB had presented documentary proof before the court to prove its case against the accused. NAB prosecutor had pleaded before the case during the last hearing that NAB has undeniable documents in its possession to prove the case that Asif Ali Zardari was a direct beneficiary of fake bank accounts After hearing the arguments of the NAB prosecutor , the court decided to indict all accused in the case.
Fake bank accounts case is haunting Asif Ali Zardari and many other top PPP leaders for the last around one and half years.
Anwar Majeed, a close friend of Asif Ali Zardari, his son and other accused are already in NAB custody for the last one and half years.
