RAWALPINDI : NOV 29,2022:. Leautinant general , Asim Munir, has become Pakistan’s army chief here on Tuesday.
Outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) , Qamar Javed Bajwa, handed over command of the army to new army chief , Asim Munir , by passing on a special stick to him at a ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi Asim Munir has become Pakistan’s 27th army chief.
The members of the cabinet , civil and military top brass attended the ceremony.
Addressing to the handing over and taking over ceremony , outgoing army chief , Qamar Javed Bajwa, facilitated the new army chief, Asim Munir, for his elevation as COAS. He said the new army chief was a very capable professional army officer and under his command Pakistan army will continue its journey of successes.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa recalled successes of Pakistan army in his tenure as COAS and noted that he feels proud for leading Pakistan’s army for six years. He said Pakistan made unprecedented successes and defeated all conspiracies hatched against Pakistan.
He said “Pakistan’s army gave unprecedented sacrifices to defeat the terrorists who had launched a long terror related activities against Pakistan. Qamar Javed Bajwa added that Pakistan army defended every inch of Pakistan despite having limited financial resources.
Defence minister , Khawaja Asif , after the ceremony termed transfer of power to the new army chief in peaceful manner a positive development . He said Pakistan Tehreek- e -Insaf (PTI) made abortive attempt to make the appointment of the army chief controversial. He hoped the situation will get better after transfer of power to the new army chief.
Interior minister , Rana Sanaullah also spoke on the occasion . He said Pakistan army is the best army of the world and Asim Munir will be its proud chief. He added that Pakistan army will achieve more successes under the new command.
