Quetta — A harrowing video showing the brutal killing of a woman and a man in the name of honour has gone viral on social media, prompting the Balochistan government to take immediate notice. One suspect has been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining culprits.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind strongly condemned the incident, stating that the horrific act took place during the days of Eid-ul-Adha. However, no family member of the victims came forward to register a complaint. As a result, the Balochistan government has taken the initiative and filed a case as the complainant.
Shahid Rind further stated that authorities took swift action after the video surfaced online. The suspects are being identified with the help of the footage, and their details have been forwarded to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to expedite their arrest. He confirmed that one of the key suspects has already been taken into custody. Although the names of the other suspects are known to the authorities, they are not being disclosed at this stage due to the ongoing investigation.
The spokesperson urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in exposing such elements, so that those involved in this heinous act can be brought to justice and similar tragedies can be prevented in the future.
It is worth mentioning that honour killings remain a grave social issue in Pakistan. The Balochistan government has repeatedly declared a zero-tolerance policy against such crimes. The viral video has sparked widespread outrage and grief among the public, with citizens demanding swift and severe action against the perpetrators.
