Baseless and malicious: Govt has not moved any appeal, Clarifies KP Advocate General

PESHAWAR – Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Faisal UtmanKhel has strongly rejected reports in some newspapers and on social media suggesting that the PTI government has filed an appeal against its own workers and leadership, terming them “false, baseless and malicious.” . Shah Faisal UtmanKhel said that an FIR had been registered at East Police Station against PTI workers Irfan Saleem, Ismatullah, Muhammad Jamal Bangash, Sajjad Bangash, Sadiq Khan, and Allama Iqbal, which was followed by a court order on September 9, 2025. The file was later forwarded by the ATC-III Prosecutor on September 27, 2025, with a recommendation to file an appeal. He stated that on the same day, Additional Advocate General Ayub Zaman thoroughly reviewed the file and submitted a written report declaring it unfit for appeal. “I agreed with the report and formally rejected the proposal for appeal,” Shah Faisal UtmanKhel added.

He further clarified that all politically motivated cases of May 9 had been declared unfit and dismissed by his office, with complete records maintained. “Despite this, creating the impression that the government has filed an appeal against its own workers is completely false, a conspiracy against the government, and falls under the PECA Act as it constitutes defamation and damages institutional credibility.”.

Shah Faisal UtmanKhel categorically confirmed that no such appeal is pending in the Peshawar High Court, Supreme Court, or any other forum. He also announced that on Monday, the FIA and other law enforcement agencies would be formally approached for action against those spreading false news, while damage notices would also be issued.
